Berry Hubbard is one of five brothers who worked in the tire industry, three of whom Goodyear hired in 1964. John was a passenger tire builder. Charles was part of the final finish inspection team. Lonnie tested tires. Tommy built truck tires. Berry worked in curing and at the tech center. He served in Vietnam from 1964-1977 and left the service when he was 55. Their father worked at Firestone and lived in East Akron before moving to the south side of town. With more than 49 years of experience in the tire industry, Berry fondly recalls the legacy of the tire builders and life was like in Akron.
