In 1950 , Goodyear trained 13 girls to be Draftsmen in the building across from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The opportunity was advertised in the Akron Beacon Journal and there were more than 200 applicants . “We all ended up working at Goodyear Aerospace,” says Arlene Secrist. “I was one of those girls, and was a senior electric draftsman from 1951-56 . I worked on the 2nd floor of the building inside the hanger.”
